12-Step Program
12 step programs are based of the original 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, which are:
1. We admitted to being vulnerable over alcohol—that our lives had become uncontrollable.
2. We came to understand that a greater power than ourselves could restore us to normality.
3. We made a choice to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we accepted Him.
4. We made a searching and bold righteous inventory of our own selves.
5. We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our grievance.
6. We were fully ready to have God remove all these flaws of character.
7. We humbly asked Him to abolish our shortcomings.
8. We made a list of all persons we had wronged, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9. We made sincere amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would damage them or others.
10. We continued to take personal inventory, and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.
11. We explored through prayer and meditation to improve our mindful connection with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the strength to carry that out.
12. We had a spiritual awakening as an outcome of these steps, we tried to carry this information to alcoholics, and to use these principles in all our tasks.
The 12 steps are the backbone of Blueprints For Recovery long-term rehab. 12 step recovery models started in 1935 in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous. Recovery is pursued in the Spiritual, Physical, Mental and Emotional.
Blueprints For Recovery for recovery attends six 12 step meetings a week, Arizona State conferences of young people in AA, and Western area conferences of young people in AA. These offer our clients an opportunity to meet others that are in long term rehab, in recovery, and working towards bettering their lives.
