•Addiction did not develop overnight or in 28 days. Young adults’ become addicted to alcohol and/or drugs over a period of years.
•During their active addiction, young adults failed to learn life skills and coping skills that are needed to be successful. Developing and learning often missing basic life and coping skills required to lead a sober life takes time, focus, practice and experienced support
•A long term drug treatment program removes outside distractions from the young adult which often distract them from focusing on their recovery. It is difficult for young adults to look at their addiction, if there are outside distractions, like girlfriends, jobs, etc, they will often spend more time focusing on those areas of their life than their recovery. It is easy to use life as a distraction from embracing recovery, especially for young adults.
•Chances for recovery improve when distanced from addiction and using associated “people, places, and things” – particularly in early recovery or when previous programs or efforts have come up short.
•The resolve to recover and remain there is stronger when residents are not only exposed to a new way of life but they are having the opportunity to experience the rewards of clean living and helping others. Residential treatment program allows for young adults to experience what sobriety is like and not just talk about it or listen to people talk about sobriety. One of our goals is to teach them how to enjoy life and learn to have fun again.
•The key to success is the addict/alcoholics desire to become sober and achieve serenity. However, this is not always present when people first get into treatment. It can take a few weeks for the drug and alcohol induced fog to clear. As the young adults mind clears, the individual can begin to see the harm caused by their addiction and that changes should be made. Our Arizona Drug Rehab can help you make those changes.
•Long Term drug treatment programs in combination with a minimum of 43 Neurofeedback sessions have had tremendous success in helping people to stay sober. Click the link to learn more about Blueprints for Recovery’s Neurofeedback Program.
